This is part of my application to the Texas Advertising Creative Sequence. Applicants were asked to answer the question, “What’s it worth?” on an 11x17 piece of paper. We also submitted 7 portfolio pieces and came up with a concept for a travel game.

My application is intended to inspire thought and reflection both towards oneself and society as a whole. What is the type of job you have worth to you? There is of course the economic value– the amount of money you earn– but also social value associated with blue collar versus white collar workers. It is an interesting and prevalent dynamic in our society.

I am so excited to say I was one of only 16 accepted into Texas Creative this semester! I will begin my first portfolio class next fall.

Lucy is still getting adjusted to her new surroundings, but I think she is starting to feel at home! If she isn’t sleeping she is meowing (begging) for attention, so she enjoys visitors when I am busy. If you pet her for a few minutes she will love you for a lifetime. Since she does cute so well, here are some more cute cat pictures to brighten your day (:

This video was shown during my Psychology of Advertising class this week. It compares what Americans think about wealth distribution in the United States to the reality of the incredible disparity in wealth that actually exists amongst our citizens.

“Lucy, I’m homeeee!”

I say this now every time I walk in my front door. Lucy, an 8 month-old brown tabby cat, came home with me from the Austin Humane Society earlier this afternoon. She is a little shy right now, but pet her for a few minutes and she will curl up and fall right asleep wherever she is. I am so excited for her to be my new roommate! Updates on her transition into her new home and more adorable photos to come soon.

Also, shout out to my wonderful mother for helping me make this possible. Your daughter and grandkitty love you very much!

For those who tried to cross the finish line… our hearts are in Boston.

I made this graphic to commemorate the victims of the bombings during the 2013 Boston Marathon and express that our hearts are with those who lost their lives, who were injured, and their family and friends.

I don’t think we will ever be able to fully understand how or why people are capable of atrocities such as this. However, I hope that we will be better able to prevent them from happening.
